This area offers great trips and experiences for both the experienced hiker and for families or groups who require more adaptation. Visitors can stay overnight in tourist cabins, or perhaps pitch a tent or park their motorhome at the sports field in the village, where there is access to shower and toilet facilities.

There are waymarked trails to Trollheimshytta cabin, Storlidalen and Innerdalen. If you are looking for a day trip, you can visit one of the many mountain peaks in the area, or perhaps just take a leisurely walk along the Toåa River with your family. There is also a lean-to shelter and areas adapted for fishing along the Toåa River.

On a trip to Todalen, visitors can experience cultural monuments from ancient times. The mountains in this area are rich in traces of ancient hunting and trapping culture, and the trip from Kårvatn o Storlidalen follows a historic thoroughfare between the inland area and the coast. In addition, there are wonderful summer mountain farms and pastures in several of the side valleys, where visitors can see landscapes shaped by generations of haymaking and livestock grazing.

At the innermost part of Todalen lies Kårvatn, which many people recognize from the filming of the children’s TV series called Fjellgården i Trollheimen (The Mountain Farm in Trollheimen). Kårvatn is also a great place for shorter trips and adventures, including the mighty Nauståfossen waterfall. Kårvatn has a weather station that measures air and water pollution, and it has been considered Europe’s cleanest place for many years.
